Volvo V40 teased again ahead of Geneva [w/video]

Wed, 15 Feb 2012

Volvo has released an unusual cartoon teaser video for its new five-door V40, together with an additional image.

The animated video features a flock of birds perching on power lines before all but one fly off. Being left on its own to dance on the lines, before fading to black with the words 'Be One of a Kind' appearing before advertising the car's imminent arrival.

Meanwhile the image (left), showing the car in silhouette, gives little away about the design, unlike Volvo's first sneak peek (right), released in December last year.

From December's teaser, the V40 looks to feature the front end characteristics of the S60 sedan but with what appears to be a bodystyle that sits somewhere between a hatchback and an estate, similar to the Audi A3 Sportback.

Volvo's CEO, Stefan Jacoby, confirmed the launch of the new car while also identifying the cars currently in the market that it wants to target; the BMW 1-Series and the Audi A3.

Volvo ended its manufacturing of the last-generation V40 in 2004, replacing it with the V50.
